Cross quote Mar. 1, 08 WT
by eby inmarch 1, 2008 page 22.why do jehovah's witnesses not use the cross in worship?
"in agreement with this, oxford university's companion bible says: 'the evidence is...that the lord was put to death upon an upright stake, and not on two pieces of timber placed at any angle.
' clearly, the churches have adopted a tradition that is not biblical.

Lurkers and Newbies..please read appendix 1-D in the NWT Fraud Bible....
by oompa inyou will see two major things in the reference bible.....1-that the inspired word has been changed....altered by satan and apostates...they took gods name out of the greek scriptures....check the insight book under jehovah and you will find that there is not a single ancient manuscript in the greek scriptures that contains the divine name.
2- you will notice that appendix 1-d tells us that they have "restored" the divine name in the greek scriptures where it was quoting from the hebrew scriptures.
there is no manuscript support for doing this, but what is worse is that they don't tell you they have also put it in the nwt wherever the hell they feel like it!!

Maybe not YHVH per se, but what about the words Yahoshua and Hallelujah? Those contain the shortened form, "Yah" or "Jah".

Are you saying that YHVH was not the God of Yahoshua/Jesus? Even the name "Yahoshua" means "Yah-saved". This is a Gnostic idea, no?

ok, let's take a moment to review recent wt shenanigans:.
1) sunday's wt study re-emphasized yet again the importance of obedience to and trust in good ol' faithy discreety mcslaveypants, mentioning the high likelihood of "detailed instructions" coming soon to a kh near you.. 2) yet more bethel layoffs.. 3) the new kool-aid edition of the wt.

All I can tell you is, the phrase "detailed instructions" sent shivers down my spine. Or maybe, are they doing all this increasingly cultish stuff to test organizational loyalty, i.e. an induced "sifting" to push the fence-sitteres over the edge?

The thing is, WT growth is slowing to a trickle and they KNOW that soon the only source of growth will be Dubs reproducing themselves. So why would they counsel against Dubs reproducing themselves? I'm tellin' ya, the handwriting is on the wall and they see it... their ace-in-the-hole could be a staged Armageddon/GT. Oh, and did I forget to mention the selling off of property right and left and the losing or settling out of courts lawsuits likely in the millions of dollars?

2) Yet more Bethel layoffs.
3) The new Kool-Aid Edition of the WT. April's issue brings out the worst of the WT in full glory. The higher-education-bashing, the counsel against having kids in this system, etc...
4) The recent refutation by WT spokesman Richard Devine that the 4-towers project (can anybody say COMPOUND?) has been cancelled. (See above link).
5) Continued tightening of the screws on personal freedoms, i.e. detailed instructions in a recent KM regarding meeting procedure, the infamous don't-use-any-study-tools-but-ours KM, the 30-minute talk (so as to reduce "personal interjections" by the speaker and more rigidly conform to the outline).
Am I just paranoid, or is the solution to the above math equation looking more and more like Jonesville or Waco? The WT knows that, with the proliferation of the Internet, they cannot survive another 1975 without major upheaval. So are they going to back up the apparent "buckling down for the GT" by ensuring that it really happens this time... by forcing the hand of Jehovah?
Your thoughts please?

Atheists should not be considered as citizens, nor patriots.

Carl Sagan once asked a friend, "You're so smart... Why do you believe in God?" To which she replied, "You're so smart, why DON'T you believe in God?" I think we see the problem here. "Smart" ain't got nothin' to do with it. For every brilliant unbeliever there's an equally brilliant believer, and vice versa.

"It's natural for people to resent their intellectual superiors." I assume you're just kidding. Belief (or lack thereof) has no correlation with intelligence (or lack thereof). I have no problem with anybody's beliefs (or lack thereof) as long as they're not dogmatic about it. This is why I groan anytime somebody quotes Dawkins. The man is an arrogant bastard, plain and simple. So atheists are the only sensible people around, eh? I guess that makes Einstein, Newton, Pascal, et al frickin' idiots...

"The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character...
by digderidoo in...in all fiction:jealous and proud of it; petty, unjust, unforgiving, control freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty, ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevent bully.
", says richard dawkins in the god delusion p51.
he goes on to say, "those of us schooled from infancy in his ways can become desensitized to their horror".. would you agree?.

I believe that Yah Elohim was the god of the OT and the NT. Hell, even Jesus' real (Hebrew) name was Yahoshua, which means Yah-saved. I also believe that Jesus was who he claimed to be and that the Bible is inspired (if not infallible). But how to reconcile the OT Yah with the NT Yah? A perplexing issue indeed. I posit 2 theories:
1) God indeed "grew", "changed", or "evolved" as humanity's spirituality grew/changed/evolved. He is reflected in the collective consciousness of the time and changes with the time.
2) Some of the OT prophets misrepresented Yah or acted without His approval. This goes back to my belief that the Bible may be inspired but perhaps not infallible.

As long as any "splinter groups" that may form retain the shunning policy, they will be just as worthless. Like I've said before, once Witnesses lose their fear of shunning, it's all over for the WT.
